The March of the Flag, by Albert Beveridge On May 1st 1898 a U.S. naval task force destroyed the Spanish pacific Fleet and seized control of the Filipinos. He explains that the U.S. had been founded on the willingness to spread out and be free. Beveridge explains that the U.S. had become a great nation by making the in force(p) decisions and ever so wanting more for its people. He asks why stop now? The opportunity to add the Philippine territory can merely benefit us as a country and diffuse up more opportunities for our nations citizens right? Beveridge says, Shall we be as the soldiery who had one talent and hid it, or as he who had x talents and used them until they grew to riches? (109) He explains that the Philippines will provide unused markets for our factories to sire for, tonic markets for our farmers to produce for, new markets for our ships to deliver goods to, and new markets for which our merchants could sell to. Beveridge exclaims that w e adopted Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Alaska, so wh! y not control the Philippines...If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website: BestEssayCheap.com
